Barbie and her pink convertible will be rolling into theatres near you on 2023
We have received the first official image from the upcoming Barbie movie! Oscar-nominated actress Margot Robbie will be playing the titular character in the first live-action ever. The movie was in development hell for a long time and finally got green lit last year. Let’s read in detail.
Barbie First Look and Story
The image that Warner Bros. shared is solid, as long as first impressions go. Robbie fits the role well, just like she did for Harley Quinn. The pink car, as well as the flowery background goes in line with the successful toy line.
When the movie was initially announced in 2014, Amy Schumer was set to star as the lead. However, Schumer departed the project due to unknown reasons and the movie sat in the shelf for a few years. But Warner Brothers soon picked it up, and brought together a fantastic cast and crew.
Cast and Crew
Barbie has a fantastic team behind it, as well as in front of the cameras. Ryan Gosling will star as Barbie’s famous partner Ken. Supporting cast includes Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Issa Rae, and many others. The movie will be directed and written by director couple Greta Gerwig (Little Women) and Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story).
As for the story, we have no idea how it will be. Back when Schumer got casted, there were reports that said the story will be on body positivity. But it is clear that they have gone on a different route with the new cast and crew. The movie will be releasing on July 2023, and will go against Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
