The Russo Brothers Tease their Return to MCU After Avengers: Endgame

Will we get another brilliant ensemble movie from this director duo?

Joe and Anthony Russo can be described as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s assets, just like its treasure trove of movies. And now, it seems like the director duo is interested in returning to work with Disney in the next phase of the MCU.

But where did we get that information from?

In Marvel’s new book, The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was stated that the Russos “softly retired” after 2019’s Avengers: Endgame to make more movies under their own banner AGBO. However, the book adds that there’s an expectation that they will collaborate with Marvel Studios again.

And why will they return? Joe Russo said that their collaboration with the Kevin Feige-led unit is one of the best collaborations they’ve had. Joe says in the book that they laugh a lot, which is “really important.” They all shared a similar sense of humour, and have spent a long time enjoying each other’s company. Feige and his team is very supportive and encouraging too. Joe said that one cant make two movies of such a big scale without an environment like that. “There’s no other way through it than with warmth and laughter,” he says.

A love for the genre

Anthony added that it began with a very specific passion for the material. He said that due to that love, they are able to synchronize what they say, what they do, what they think, and the final work. He said that the movies they’ve made are really hard, but the process with them couldn’t have been easier.

Let’s hope that we get to hear about the Russo’s return in the coming year.
