John Mulaney rings his 40th birthday with family & friends
John Mulaney with his loved ones rings in the new decade. John Mulaney, Olivia Munn, and their 9-month-old son Malcolm celebrated his 40th birthday together.
Malcolm Hip, the son of Olivia Munn and John Mulaney, gave his father the best 40th birthday present ever by interrupting the comedian’s most recent performance in Nashville, Tennessee’s Ryman Auditorium.
On August 27, Olivia posted numerous images from the touching occasion to her Instagram Stories, along with the caption, “Malcolm surprised John on stage last night to sing HBD with the full audience.” Following that, he swept some cake over John’s shoulders.
Birthday made special by his toddler
The comedian also shared a picture of him and his infant son on stage in front of balloons and streamers, captioning, “There is absolutely no better way to celebrate 40.”
It was a blast last night. Happy birthday, John!” read the post from the Ryman Auditorium’s official Twitter account in Nashville, Tennessee. The legendary Music City theater hosted Mulaney’s “From Scratch” comedy tour on Thursday, August 25, and Friday, August 26, which was also his birthday.
Munn, 42, planned an unexpected gift for the former Saturday Night Live writer to commemorate reaching the milestone. On Saturday, Munn revealed via her Instagram story that Malcolm had performed HBD with the entire audience while surprising John on stage.
As the audience sang to Mulaney, she carried the newborn onto the platform. To the comic’s son’s great surprise, a multi-tiered cake was also delivered as a gift.
The X-Men: Apocalypse actor said in another photo, “And then [Malcolm] swiped some cake over John’s shoulder.”
The first-time mother hadn’t anticipated letting her teething kid sample cake for the first time. “The appearance of a sugar high. Munn captioned a joyful image from the event, “I suppose we won’t be waiting til his one year birthday to give him his first taste of cake.
Following John’s divorce from his wife of six years, Anna Marie Tendler, their relationship became known in May 2021, and they welcomed their first child in November of that same year over a year after Mulaney completed rehab despite a relapse in his sobriety. The child made his Instagram debut a month later.
Wedding on the cards?
According to a source who spoke exclusively to Us Weekly in June, “Olivia has truly been John Mulaney’s rock post-rehab and is incredibly supportive of him.” The fact that he now has a child to care for has undoubtedly altered his outlook on life. He now wants to be the greatest parent he can be while still being healthy and available to him.
That doesn’t necessarily imply that the happy pair will soon be married, at least not straight away. Olivia and John have just been dating only for a little over a year, they aren’t in any hurry to get hitched. She’s not thinking about that right now, for sure, the source stressed. She truly wants to take advantage of her time as a new mother, the insider said. Olivia has accepted motherhood wholeheartedly, with all of its difficulties and ups and downs.
Munn and Mulaney appear to be happier than ever, even though they are not hurrying down the aisle. The insider stated that “having a baby definitely drew them closer as a couple.”
