First Look of ‘Yellowstone: 1923’ Show Harrison Ford Helen Mirren as the Previous Generation of Duttons

Taylor Sheridan returns with his magnum opus Western series

Take a look at the newest, or rather, former generation of Duttons in the upcoming Yellowstone prequel series, 1923. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will serve as the show’s leads. The first look images have been released by Vanity Fair, and the pair are dressed to the nines as stalwarts of the Dutton clan. The story will take place during Prohibition-era America.

The first image from Yellowstone: 1923 was of Ford and Mirren, as James and Cara Dutton, sharing a tender moment. The following are solo images, with the actors decked out in their costumes. Ford looks dapper in his suit, button-down vest, and white cowboy hat, with a world-weary expression on his face. He’s also got a pistol tucked into his waist, showing that he’s prepared for threats prevailing in the American West. Mirren, on the other side, is seen wearing a beautiful purple dress as she gazes off to the land beyond. The actors will be partners who are tasked with keeping the family together during a particularly rough patch in the nation’s history. They are in the same land that James and Margaret Dutton (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) acquired in the previous series, Yellowstone: 1883.

A primary factor of Yellowstone: 1923 is the relationship between the lead stars. James and Cara have been together for four decades, as shared by Ford. The story was originally set to cover Prohibition and the eventual Great Depression but was later split into two seasons to get a detailed story. Alongside Ford and Mirren, we will see Sebastian Roché, Darren Mann, Robert Patrick, Jerome Flynn, and Timothy Dalton. The series already holds great promise, just like its predecessors.

Yellowstone: 1923 will premiere on Paramount+ on December 18.
