The Adam Project Review: How Did Ryan Reynolds’ Latest Netflix Collab Fare?

Everything you can expect from a Ryan Reynolds movie

Netflix has debuted their latest film, The Adam Project. The movie has Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds reuniting with his Free Guy director, Shawn Levy. The story involves time travel, with some emotional family elements in the mix. And of course, we see Reynolds once again making witty one liners even at the face of danger. In simple terms, this movie will be enjoyed by those who loved Free Guy or just fans of Reynolds in general.

The story and acting

The Adam Project is about Adam Reed (Reynolds), living in the year 2050, travelling back in time to save the future. From the get-go, we see Adam stealing a plane and being chased by invisible ships. Adam opens a wormhole to another timeline, and crash lands outside Seattle in the year 2022. However, his plan was to go to 2018. He soon comes across his 12-year-old self, played by newcomer Walker Scobell. He later meets his endearing mother Ellie (Jennifer Garner), and workaholic father Louis (Mark Ruffalo).

As a newcomer, Scobell does his role really well. But we can see that he was fed a healthy dose of Ryan’s humor, so non-fans may not enjoy it a great deal. Reynolds, Ruffalo, Garner, and Zoe Saldana, who plays adult Adam’s wife Laura are all good at their roles. The time travel stuff will soon get mind-bendy, so it’s best not to look too deep into it. However, the emotional elements in the movie truly stand out.

In conclusion

Reynolds is a very funny actor, and his original persona does come a lot into his movies. But of course, it’s not everyone’s taste. So a great deal of your enjoyment depends on whether you like his humour. If you are looking for simple enjoyment, then The Adam Project is right for you.
