Daredevil Star Charlie Cox Returns to Netflix – This Time For the Spy Thriller ‘Treason’

Cox will be playing an M16 agent

Netflix has released the first look images of their upcoming limited spy thriller series Treason. The series stars Daredevil star Charlie Cox in the lead. Cox rose to fame through the streaming platform’s original series Daredevil, which was loosely tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the time, and moved to Disney+ when Marvel acquired the property.

About Treason

Treason
Netflix

Treason comes from Matt Charman, who wrote the Tom Hanks-starrer Bridge of Spies. Netflix announced that the series will consist of 5 episodes, and will release on boxing day. Their tagline was, “What’s Boxing Day without a little Treason?”

The series will center around three major characters – an M16 agent named Adam Lawrence (Cox), a Russian spy named Kara (Olga Kurylenko), and Adam’s wife, Maddy (Oona Chaplin). Adam has just finished training and is about to start his covert career in collecting information for the UK’s national security.  But this is when he comes across Kara, who he has history with. The meeting with Kara causes him to question everyone around him. Things get worse when Maddy also get involved, and a dangerous game where all three characters reveal every secret they know of each other.

The rights for the series was acquired by Netflix last year, and it was originally intended to have 6 episodes.
