Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Blonde, the biopic on legendary actress Marilyn Monroe. Let’s take a closer look at Blonde and Monroe.

An interesting detail we see right off the bat is that the trailer for Blonde switches between monochrome and full color. It hints at the sharp contrast between Monroe’s public and private lives. Even as she puts on a brave façade in front of the cameras and her fans, she has to be comforted backstage as she cries in the middle of makeup. As she stares at her reflection, Marilyn says, “Please come. Don’t abandon me.” The short clip ends with her giving her dazzling smile to the mirror.

In between them, we briefly see some of the iconic moments from the actress’ career, such as the white dress shot from Seven Year Itch, and her giving a stage performance for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and finally, a slow version of Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.

The movie received an NC-17 rating, making it Netflix’s first “adult-only” movie/ Director Andrew Dominik had said that he would rather see this version as Monroe’s life was always on the edge, right up to how it ended. He asked if given a choice, audiences would rather watch a sanitized version, or the warts-and-all version.

As for the release date, Blonde will be available on Netflix on September 23, 2022. We might get to see another trailer before that.
