Yoo Young-jae gets First Lead Role in Upcoming Historical Drama ‘Love in Spring’

The series is expected to premiere in early 2022

Former B.A.P member Yoo Young-jae, who was last seen in the drama Police University, has just landed his first lead role in a drama.

As reported by Sports Donga, the 27-year-old Yoo Young-jae has been casted as the lead in Chun Jeong Ji Ran, otherwise known as Love in Spring. The historical drama is adapted from a BL (Boys Love) webtoon.

The story

Love in Spring tells the story of three young men who fall in love with each other when one of the three, who was born into a family of slaves, dressed up as a woman to get married and escape from his hard life. Young-jae had spoken about his role, saying he will be playing Jin Geum-sung, an aloof scholar who is nicknamed “the cold and handsome man” by the rest of the villagers. In the webtoon, Jin Geum Seong is poor, despite being a nobleman. He lives with his mother and is always struggling to make ends meet. The things he cared about the most was reading his books and learning martial arts. So when he gets told to marry the third daughter of the Choi family, Choi Hye Seong, he gets the shock of his life.

About his role, the Yoo Young-jae said that Jin Geum-sung’s serious personality is the complete opposite of his role as the playful and clumsy Kim Hwan from Mr. Queen.

Along with Yoo Young-jae, the drama additionally stars Kim Song as Choi Hye Seong, and Kim Seong Hee in an undisclosed role. The drama is expected to contain 8 episodes and will premiere in the first half of 2022 via the streaming service WATCHA.
