Yankovic couldn’t fulfill his dream to parody Harry Potter’s theme song

Warner Bros didn’t allow Yankovic to parody Harry potter’s theme song

“Weird Al” Yankovic who is quite popular for creating comedy songs and parody by contemporary musicians couldn’t revamp the Harry Potter theme song which is titled as “Hedwig’s Theme”. In talks with “Weird AI” Yankovic while he was busy in promotions of his upcoming biopic titled ‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’, he reveals his disappointment when Warner Bros didn’t grant him permission for parodying the theme song.

He said, “Whenever it was, about a decade or two ago, I approached the movie company just to get a general blessing like, ‘Hey, I’d like to do a Harry Potter parody, but he was denied for the same. He further shares his experience how sometimes things like that might get a good response or not as there’s so many people that can say no when talking about franchises.

Yankovic shares his journey to rejection

Yankovic shares about the lesson he learnt for his future parodies. He believes that if he is doing a franchise, it would be lot better if he just does it and then apologizes for the same rather than asking for permission and then doing it.

Talking about Daniel Radcliffe and Evan Rachel Wood who are a part of his biopic also seemed quite shocked after he broke the shocking revelation of not getting permission for parodying his favorite theme song. To which Radcliffe joked by saying, ‘Maybe that’s what this film is.” She also said that the film has been his way of doing a Harry Potter parody.
