Melinda French Gates speaks about divorce from Bill Gates
Melinda French Gates decided to finally share her feelings about her divorce from Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. In a preview of an upcoming episode of CBS Mornings, the American philanthropist said that it wasn’t just one single moment or incident.
The preview of the interview sheds light on Melinda opening up about what led to the split.
Was Bill Gate’s affair the reason for the divorce?
During the Interview, Bill Gate’s ex wife received the question regarding his affair with a staff member. The affair apparently occurred 20 years ago and a spokesperson for Microsoft confirmed this news last May.
To the question, Melinda replied that she believes in forgiveness and she thought they were past that. She added that there wasn’t a specific thing that happened. There was a point of time where she realized the relationship wasn’t healthy and she couldn’t trust what they had.

The author and woman’s advocate added that feeling angry is a part of the grieving process and even she faced that. She however said that she is slowly getting to the other side in her healing journey.
Melinda shared that she feels like she’s turning a page in the chapter and is excited about what’s coming ahead in life.
The duo announced their split in May 2021
Bill and Melinda announced their divorce in May 2021 after being together for 27 years. In a joint statement, the duo said they cannot grow together as a couple anymore. They further finalized the divorce in August 2021.
Reflecting on that phase of her life, Melinda said she shed many tears for several days. 66-year-old Bill also shared in December that 2021 was the most unusual and difficult year of his life.
