‘The Batman’ to get a HBO Max Spin-off centered on Colin Farrell’s Penguin

A Penguin-based spinoff series of “The Batman” is in progress at HBO Max

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman is getting ready to hit the theatres in a few months. Meanwhile, HBO Max is planning a spinoff show for the film. The spinoff series will reportedly feature the rise of Penguin.

Spinoff series is all about Penguin:

Oswald Cobblepot, also known as the Penguin, will now get a Television series featuring him. The Penguin is one of the most notorious rivals of Batman. He is a mobster of Gotham City who imagines himself as the “Gentleman of Crime”. The new spinoff series will reportedly decode the Penguin’s evolution in power in Gotham city’s criminal underworld.

The Designated Crew:

Colin Farrell plays the role of the iconic supervillain Penguin in the forthcoming Batman film. Sources say that he has been approached to reprise his role in the new series as well. However, he did not finalise any deal. Previously Penguin’s role was played by Danny DeVito in Batman Returns and Robin Lord Taylor in Gotham.

The director of “The Batman”, Matt Reeves will likely direct The Penguin spinoff series too. Furthermore, Batman’s producer Dylan Clark will executive produce the new spinoff series. The series will reportedly come under Matt Reeves’s 6th & Idaho, Dylan Clark Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Entertainment. The script of the spinoff series said to be in its very early stage will be written by Lauren LeFranc (YouTube Premium’s Impulse).

Plan to expand The Batman universe:

The new Penguin spinoff series becomes a second spinoff show from The Batman film. In addition to the penguin spinoff, the Gotham Police Department series got confirmed earlier. Thus, it becomes the first spinoff from The Batman. Hence, we can clearly see the plans of Warner Bros. to create a new Batman franchise. HBO Max gave the confirmation for the Gotham P.D project that it will become a series. While there is no confirmation that the Penguin spinoff will be a series or movie.
