The Acolyte: Disney+ Boasts of a Star-Studded Cast for the Star Wars Series!

A story that focuses more on the Sith

The Hunger Games star Amandla Stenberg is currently in talks to star in the upcoming Disney Plus series The Acolyte, coming from Leslie Headland (Russian Doll).

The upcoming show from Lucasfilm will be a live-action series, but unlike most shows, The Acolyte will be told from a different perspective.

While a lot is not known, The Acolyte will be a story about the Sith. In the Star Wars universe, Acolyte is typically referred to a Sith who has begun their training under a veteran Sith Lord. The story is set before Sith Lord Darth Bane set the Rule of Two, which declared that there can only be two Sith in existence at a time – one should be the master while the other should be apprentice. In statements by Lucasfilm and Disney, the story takes place in the final days of the High Republic timeline, and has secretive powers of the dark side coming to play. What timeline will that be in? Around 50 years before the events in The Phantom Menace.

The series falls under the mystery/ thriller genre, as announced by Disney in 2020. We are no sure what Stenberg’s role will be, but if I were to make a guess, it could be the role of the Acolyte itself.

Since headhunting for the cast is still ongoing, we will need by the end of this month or the next to know the full list.

As for the crew, only Headland’s name has been disclosed, and she will serve as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer, with production about to begin in 2022.

In the meantime, we have the Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor, season 3 of The Mandalorian, the Cassian Andor series starring Diego Luna, and the Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson all coming next year. This year, we will get The Book of Boba Fett premiering on December 29 on Disney+.
