NCIS’s Actor ‘Mark Harmon’ Bids Adieu to his Character Gibbs after 19 Seasons

Actor Mark Harmon is best known for his role as Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Harmon one of the oldest cast members on NCIS has exited the show after 19 seasons. It has always been the question as to how he will stay in the show. Well, the last episode just confirmed that the actor is leaving NCIS. Harmon was ready to leave the role after the last season. But the show creators refused to renew the show for a new season, and as a result, the actor decided to come back. But the actor only agreed to return for the limited capacity.

The executive producer of the show Steven D. Binder says that Mark is an integral part of the show. He goes on to say that they always have stayed true to their characters and the truth has guided them to tell their stories. In reference to the future of Gibbs, he is never really gone!

His Farewell

In the episode, “Great Wide Open”, Gibbs no longer has a warrant out for his arrest. So, the former could actually return to work. But, Director Leon Vance reveals to Nick and Katarina that he simply could not convince Gibbs to return. He simply says that he does not want it. With the actor’s farewell, the series has turned over a new chapter.

Additionally, Gibbs breaks the news to Timothy that he is not coming back while fishing. He goes on to say that he is not going back. He further says that he is not only not going back to work but also he is not going back home. This makes Timothy panic and he says that the former is his mentor. And that they are 50 miles from anything or anyone. Both of them part ways for good.
