Michael Keaton dedicated his win to his nephew

‘The Flash’ credited Michael Keaton dedicated his best actor in a TV movie or miniseries SAG Award to his late nephew. He is awarded for his phenomenal performance in Hulu miniseries “Dopesick”.

After the launch of the miniseries, in an interview, he spoke the reason behind his decision to take part in the series. At that time, also he told about the heart wrenching story of his beloved nephew’s fentanyl and heroin addiction which his life. This incident inspired him take up the role.

On the SAG stage, he touched everyone’s heart with his tear-jerking speech. He quoted in this way he wanted to spread awareness among people about drug and change their lives. Additionally, he felt himself a fortunate person that he got chance to be a part of this series. In his acceptance speech, he further said that he wanted to dedicate the award to his nephew who passed away from drug addiction and his sister Pam. In the end, he also addressed the war between Russia and Ukraine. He thanked Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and urge for the justice and support of Ukraine.

Plotline of Dopesick

‘Rebel in the Rye’ famed Daniel William Strong’s ‘Dopesick’ is an adapted series version of Beth Macy’s ‘Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America’. The show revolves around rising popularity of the highly addictive opioid OxyContin.

It focuses on America’s struggle against the addiction through the lens of the Sackler family. The family owns the pharmaceutical companies Purdue Pharma and Mundipharma. Moreover, ‘Batman’ series actor portrays the role of a family doctor Dr. Samuel Finnix, who initially marked the effects of OxyContin.
