Disney Responds to Peter Dinklage ‘Snow White’ Remarks
Days back when Peter Dinklage called the new Disney film Snow White a “f***ing backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave”, we never wondered Disney will take extra care of it and reply to the Game of Thrones star.
In a response to the award-winning actor, the Disney spokesperson backed up the movie and told the media why they chose this script.
He said, they trying to avoid stereotypes from its original film, released in animated format years back. They are taking a different approach with the seven dwarfs’ character and also consulting with the dwarfism community members. The team is excited to share more about the film when it comes into production after a long development period.
Disney and its Old Cultural Hindrance
This is not the first time when Disney consulted took cultural consultants. With its previous movies too such as Mulan, Aladdin, Encanto, an animated film they took cultural consultants before beginning the production of the film.
What Dinklage Commented
Dinklage on Marc Maron’s podcast said referring to Disney’s new animated film. He was taken aback when he knew the production has cast a Latina actress in a Snow White character.
He further added why they are in a modern world telling the same old story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. They must look at it again on what they are doing. On one side they are saying they are progressive while on the other they are working on this story.
The movie is still in production for the last three years. Disney Snow White is going to be live-action is directed by Marc Webb while Oscar-nominated Marc Platt is producing it.
