Obi-Wan Kenobi Finale Finds Itself Similar To Batman v Superman’s Controversial Scene

Of course, it all began in Twitter

Obi-Wan Kenobi has come to an end. The series was emotional, and was much-loved by the fans. In the finale, we got to see Anakin Skywalker, aka, Darth Vader, going face to face with his former master Obi-Wan Kenobi. The final scene, however, seemed awfully familiar with a certain movie, even though the dialogues were not similar in any way. Let’s read in detail.

The fight between Vader and Kenobi was hyped as the “rematch of the century” with Obi-Wan fighting Vader with a renewed sense of purpose. The lightsaber duel reaches its zenith when Kenobi slashes half of Vader’s mask off, revealing his burnt face underneath.

This drew comparison in the fight between Batman and Superman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice where Superman’s punch rips half of Batman’s mechanical mask off. However, in that scene, Superman accepts his fate while pleading Batman to “save Martha”, his mother who got captured by Lex Luther’s goons. But when Bruce hears that their mothers have the same name, he realises how much of a monster he has become. However, the scene is still trolled by many.

In Obi-Wan Kenobi, the scene ends with Obi-Wan breaking into tears and telling Anakin that he’s sorry. He then leaves Darth behind, without feeling like the victor. While it did not have anything like “save Martha,” the scenes featured cracked masks and words that brought a difference.

An Emotional Ending

The cracked mask scene in Obi-Wan Kenobi is extremely well acted and directed. Due to that, the emotional levels are also amped. While the series did not pleasing everyone, there is without a doubt that most of its scenes are well executed. All episodes are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
