Bale will be playing Gorr the God Butcher
The official trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder is out, and the highly-anticipated look of Christian Bale has been revealed. Bale will star as Gorr the God Butcher. Additionally, the movie marks the return of Natalie Portman to the Thor movies after last starring in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. However, things are different this time. Portman’s character Jane Foster becomes Mighty Thor, similar to her comic counterpart. But first, let’s talk about Christian Bale.
Christian Bale as Gorr
Director Taika Waititi had promised that Christian Bale as Gorr will be the most terrifying villain you’ve seen in a Marvel movie. Sure enough, Bale as Gorr looks straight of a nightmare, both with his appearance and his fighting skills. We also saw Gorr announcing his goal – to eliminate every god in existence.
With Gorr, we can see that Marvel has found its footing in horror, similar to Multiverse of Madness. We also see him wielding All-Black, the Necrosword and shattering a meteor or a moon with it. An interesting detail to see was how the screen became black and white along with Gorr towards the end of the trailer, and we see him boldly challenging Thor for a fight. In the comics, Gorr originally had the power of young Thor, but as he killed more and more gods, he got so strong that even three Thors and Odin weren’t able to beat him.
Other Trailer Details
Additonally, we got to see fan-favourite character Korg (Waititi), and Russel Crowe as Zeus. Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, and the Guardians of the Galaxy were also present. But the highlights of the trailer were definitely Christian Bale and Natalie Portman.
