Jennifer Lawrence said “It Came Out Improper,” concerning her remark about female-led feature films
Actress Jennifer Lawrence apologized for remarks she made previously about female-led action movies after receiving a barrage of backlash.
The Oscar-winning actress allegedly revised her statement on Thursday while addressing the media.
Controversy
The mess started when the “American Hustle” star proclaimed that she was the first female action star in an interview. She continued by saying that while she was acting in “Hunger Games,” no one had previously put a woman in the lead of an action thriller because it wouldn’t work because people had been informed that boys cannot recognize with a female protagonist, but girls can with a male protagonist.
Her remarks sparked a flood of criticism, with moviegoers pointing out that there had been a slew of female action stars long prior to actually her 2012 film.
Women-led action movies before 2012
Instances of women-led action movies that arrived out years before the 2012 dystopian movie series include Angelina Jolie in the 2001 and 2003 “Tomb Raider” features, Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley in the “Alien” trilogy, which began in 1979, “Foxy Brown”, and “The Terminator”.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Apology
Obviously, the native of Kentucky quickly recanted her statement, claiming that was absolutely not what she intended to imply at all and that other women had also starred in action movies in the past. She acknowledged that it was her own error and that it came over incorrectly, but she continued by saying that she wanted to emphasize how fantastic it feels and to dispel some of the common misconceptions that people have about it.
With the clarification, Jennifer Lawrence must be hoping to earn the support back after all the backlash she faced for her ignorant comments.
