The Red Hulk is coming

It’s finally official. After about a month of speculation, Harrison Ford is now a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 80-year-old veteran will take the role of General Thaddeus Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt. Ford will make his debut opposite Anthony Mackie in Phase 5’s Captain America: New World Order.

Rumors about Harrison Ford joining the MCU had been prevalent since last month’s D23. However, the news wasn’t shared as Lucasfilm did not want that to happen. While the new Captain America movie’s plot is kept under wraps, we might be able to see some interesting developments on Ross’s character. He can even serve as a major roadblock on Sam Wilson’s journey as he navigates his new Captain America mantle. The movie will be directed by Julius Onah and will also star Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, and Carl Lumbly, among others.

About General Ross

Red Hulk
Marvel

Harrison Ford as General Ross will be playing a top-ranking military official, who made his debut in 1962. He is the father of Betty Ross, the colleague and ex-girlfriend of Bruce Banner. In his quest to stop the Hulk, and due to his own demons, he develops a different version of the Hulk serum and transforms into the Red Hulk. Ross also assembles a group of anti-heroes known as the Thunderbolts.

Oscar-winner Hurt last played the role in 2021’s Black Widow, after debuting in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

Harrison Ford is no stranger to massive franchises, as he’s been part of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Blade Runner. The actor was believed to be retiring after the final Indiana Jones adventure, but it looks like he will stay for a bit more. See him next in Apple’s comedy series Shrinking.
