Hunter X Hunter 2nd TV Anime Celebrates 10th Anniversary With a Whole New Illustration

Find the new artwork on this week’s issue of Shonen Jump

Time sure does fly. It’s already ten years since the rebooted version of Hunter x Hunter came out. The 2011 version was what made the Shonen series a true hit with the anime community, and went on to join the likes of Naruto and One Piece. In some ways, Hunter x Hunter is more enjoyable than the other two, but that’s just my opinion.

The new artwork can be found on this week’s issue of Shonen Jump. Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika, and Hisoka are featured. The former three are cheesing hard, while Hisoka has his usual sadistic grin and Kurapika can barely muster a smile.

However, this new art isn’t drawn by the series creator Yoshihiro Togashi-sensei. The artist has been on hiatus for over three years now due to poor health. Therefore, the anime’s character designer Takahiro Yoshimatsu stepped up to deliver this beautiful art.

What’s more, two familiar voice actors also penned their thoughts about the series. They were voice actors Megumi Han and Mariya Ise, who voiced Gon and Killua respectively. The two artists had accumulated a lot of fans after they portrayed the iconic young characters.

Han and Ise’s experiences

Han considers Gon as her starting point. She said this was where she began, and it gave her many encounters and invaluable things in life. She also thanked the fans for their continued support, and congratulated the series on its anniversary.

Ise said that she first read the manga as a 14-year-old. And ten years later, at the age of 24, she got to lend her voice to Killua. She called it a dreamy story. She hopes for the series to be loved for many years to come and congratulated it on its 10th anniversary.
