Rick and Morty’ Season 6 Arrives, Here’s Everything You Need To Know

Before we get to the madness, know that there are spoilers ahead

Rick and Morty returns with another nutty premiere episode, titled “Solaricks.” It is a fitting start to the latest season, as there were plenty of callbacks, madness, and action. But before we get to all that, let’s see where the series left off.

Rick and Morty: The Story So Far

Rick and Morty season 5 delved pretty deep into Rick’s tragic backstory. We got to hear how Rick lost his best friend Birdperson, because he could no longer stand to watch Rick living a life of vengeance and self-sabotage. In the episode “The Rickshank Redemption,” we see Rick C-137 witnessing his wife Diane and young daughter Beth getting killed by an evil alternate version of himself. In his grief, Rick C-137 decides to slaughter every version of him until he can find the one who destroyed his life.

In the season 5 finale, titled “Evil Morty,” we see Rick deciding to stop his quest. No, he did not find the killer, but because he made a deal with the other Ricks to create the Central Finite Curve, a set of realities where Rick is the smartest being in the universe. But this caused all the Morties to be stuck being their grandfather’s sidekicks. The episode ends with Evil Morty escaping into a portal, leaving Rick and Morty stuck with the other Ricks.

Season 6 will continue with Rick’s pursuit of Killer Rick. Our Rick does finally seem to be processing his grief, without turning into a pickle or doing other goofy things. He’s also at an advantage because Killer Rick is stuck because his portal travel is over. C-137 now knows just where to find him.

Rick and Morty season 6 releases new episodes every Sunday on Adult Swim.
